FAQ

What’s your design philosophy?

We believe great design is quietly luxurious—thoughtful, refined, and deeply personal. It should feel effortless in how it functions and natural in how it lives. Our goal is always to create spaces that are both beautiful and livable, where every detail supports the rhythms of daily life.

Our style leans toward quiet luxury: understated elegance rooted in warmth, authenticity, and restraint. We gravitate toward natural materials—woods, stone, and textures inspired by biophilic design—that bring a sense of calm and connection to the environment. We also prioritize practicality, using performance textiles and durable finishes that stand up beautifully to children, pets, and the realities of everyday life.

Every project begins with listening. We take time to truly understand our clients—their needs, routines, and aspirations—so the spaces we create together reflect not just how they want to live, but how they want to feel in their home. No two projects are the same, because no two clients are. That’s the beauty of thoughtful design: it tells a story that could only belong to them.

How will you figure out our aesthetic?

It usually starts with a mix of intuition and curiosity. We pay attention to everything—from the pieces you already live with and love, to how you dress, how you describe your day-to-day life, and even the colors you naturally gravitate toward. We’ll also ask for a few inspiration images, and from there, we look for the common thread that ties it all together. It’s a bit like solving a beautiful puzzle—and we truly enjoy the process. Our goal is always to make you feel seen and understood, and to create a space that reflects not just your style, but your spirit

I love classic, but my partner is more modern (bohemian, romantic, rustic, etc.). How
will we integrate their taste with mine?

Blending different styles is one of the most rewarding parts of the design process. We’ll create a harmonious balance that honors both of your tastes, what I like to call your own version of modern classic. By pulling inspiration from elements that resonate with each of you, we can layer textures, tones, and details that feel meaningful and personal. That’s truly what makes a house feel like home is when it reflects everyone who lives in it.

How will you determine what kind of functionality and layout will work for us?

Understanding how you live is at the heart of designing a home that truly works for you. In the first phase of our process—space planning—we explore different layout options that reimagine the flow of your home. We’ll look at how you move through your space day to day, what your priorities are, and how we can improve both function and feeling. Then we refine the plans together until everything clicks. Some ideas may surprise you, but that’s where the magic happens—creating layouts that are as smart as they are beautiful.

Can you create a cohesive design for our home’s interior and exterior?

Absolutely! We specialize in creating seamless indoor-outdoor living experiences. What sets Studio Bral apart is our background in architectural design, which allows us to thoughtfully connect the interior of your home with the exterior. From reimagining your home’s façade to designing outdoor kitchens, pools, lounge areas, and beautifully landscaped yards, we bring the same level of intention and style to every corner of your property. Our in-house team of architectural designers, CAD specialists, and 3D visualization artists works collaboratively to create a unified vision that feels both effortless and elevated.

Which elements of the exterior design do you specialize in?

We specialize in all aspects of exterior design! Whether you’re building your dream home from the ground up or looking to transform an existing space, we’re here to help bring your vision to life. Our expertise covers everything from facades, front and backyards, and hardscape details to outdoor living areas that blend beauty and function. We design custom entry doors, garage doors, gates, pools, outdoor kitchens, lounge areas, patio covers, firepits, waterfalls, and more. Whatever you imagine, we’ll work with you to create a cohesive and stunning exterior that truly feels like home.

What sets you apart from other designers?

What truly sets us apart is that all of our architectural design work is done in-house. This gives us complete control over the structure and layout of the home while allowing us to thoughtfully integrate design details right from the start. Unlike many firms where design comes after the architectural plans are finalized, we approach the entire project holistically—from the structure itself to the interior flow and outdoor living spaces.

We go far beyond kitchens and bathrooms. Our strength is in creating fully integrated environments where the architecture, interiors, and exterior spaces all work together beautifully. And because we also manage the build-out of these areas, we’re able to maintain a clear vision and high standard throughout the entire process. That level of cohesive design and hands-on execution is what makes us different.

How is your process unique?

Our process is unique because we think of every little detail. We start with detailed floor plans, followed by conceptual design, elevations, and 3D renderings using real-life products we’re specifying for your space. We even select accessories to complete the vision. Our renderings bring the design to life, and when you see how thorough our presentations are, you’ll understand how special our approach truly is. From meticulous construction documents to guiding contractor selection and offering construction oversight, we ensure a seamless journey from start to finish, resulting in a home that’s beautifully tailored to your lifestyle and needs.

What’s the fee structure?

Since each project is unique, we carefully analyze its scope and requirements to determine the resources it will take. Based on this assessment, we provide a tailored fee proposal that reflects the project’s complexity and needs.

The best way to get started is by booking a 15-minute Introductory Call. It’s a friendly, no-pressure conversation where we can learn more about your vision, answer any initial questions, and give you an overview of the process and what to expect.

Can you recommend a great contractor?

We work with a great group of contractors, handpicked based on the unique needs of your project—whether it’s the scope, location, investment, or specific skills required. We’ll help match you with the right team to ensure everything runs smoothly and your vision comes to life.

Will you communicate the design decisions directly to my builder/contractor/architect and provide documentation?

Absolutely! We ensure that everything is clear and well-organized from start to finish. At the end of each project, we provide a full set of architectural elevations for potential or confirmed contractors to bid on. We also hold kick-off meetings at the beginning of every job to go over the design details, walk through the space, and mark out key areas like electrical, plumbing, and other architectural features.

To make the process as seamless as possible, we offer project management services for full oversight, or consulting packages to address any questions that arise on-site (and they always do!). Additionally, we schedule a secondary kick-off meeting with each trade to ensure every design detail is executed exactly as envisioned.

How is the timeline determined?

Determining an exact timeline can be tricky because there are so many moving parts—many of which are outside our control. While we always do our best to plan ahead, things like permitting, bidding, inspections, material deliveries, weather, and the occasional surprise can cause delays. If anyone promises you a firm completion date, we’d say “run!”—in construction, that’s just not realistic. What we do promise is to stay on top of things, keep you in the loop with regular updates, and work as efficiently as possible to get the job done.

How and how often do you communicate with us throughout the project?

Email is our preferred method of communication, as it helps keep everyone on the same page and provides a helpful reference for all conversations. We also set up Zoom meetings and love a good phone chat; just let us know a good time to schedule so we can give you our undivided attention. We’ll stay in touch as often as needed to keep everything on track and ensure you’re always informed.

Will you handle purchasing? Which elements of the design will you source?

Yes, we manage the sourcing and purchasing of all design elements we specify, including furniture, art, lighting, accessories, and hard finishes like tile, flooring, counters, cabinetry, windows, doors, and hardware.

We also install all furnishings, art, and accessories as part of the final phase, bringing the entire vision together. This hands-on part of the process allows us to complete your home with care and intention. Behind the scenes, we track orders, check for damages, coordinate deliveries, and keep everything moving smoothly so you can enjoy the experience without the stress.

Can you assist with project management? What does that include?

Yes, and we highly recommend it. While we provide detailed architectural elevations and thoroughly documented plans, the reality is that not every detail gets referenced during construction. Even with a kick-off meeting at the start of the build, a lot can be lost or misinterpreted once work is underway.

That’s why we offer ongoing involvement, whether it’s attending individual trade kick-off meetings, answering on-the-spot questions, or reviewing installations as they happen. We’ve seen how costly and frustrating mistakes can be when small decisions are made without design oversight.

To support this, we offer construction consulting packages that give you access to us throughout the process. Whether it’s by email, phone, FaceTime, or in-person job site visits, we’re here to help guide decisions and ensure everything stays true to the vision.

At what point in the planning phase should we contact you?

As soon as you’ve made the decision to rebuild or remodel, reach out to set up a consultation. The earlier we’re involved, the more value we can bring. We can help you map out the process, offer guidance on timing and priorities, and develop a thoughtful plan of action. Our goal is to help you stay organized and set your project up for success from the very beginning.
